The Peas Are Starting

Sunday morning it was sunny and warm. I checked my garden and finally, there was a single pea plant sticking up from the soil. Yay! This morning, it was buried under six inches of snow. This evening most of it is gone, but there is supposed to be a little more snow on the way this week. Spring is so unpredictable here. At least the snow doesn't usually stick around long this time of year.

I've also started a few plants indoors to be transplanted into the garden later on. I've got tomatoes, celery and three kinds of peppers.

Yeah!!!! This is so fun to watch!! I went to a seminar about sq. foot gardening on Saturday. The guy doing it advocated using a soil thermometer all the time. I don't remember what for. Do you use one?
I think I will dive into a square foot this year. Well, okay maybe 16 square feet.... You've inspired me!!

Hmmm, nope, never heard of a soil thermometer. Maybe I should get the SFG book.... And good luck with yours!

Well, you'd only want to get one if we could figure out why you wanted it:)

Ha ha this is so fun! I think we are glad we are not traveling in the snow. Did your single pea survive?

Did your mix call for vermiculite? If so, did you have a problem finding it?
